We are the journalists of the Austin American-Statesman. We are the reporters, photographers, videographers, copy editors, producers and social media specialists who cover what’s happening in Central Texas.
What.
The Austin NewsGuild is a collective bargaining unit that advocates for the non-managerial staff at the Austin American-Statesman with the guiding principle that we want to work with management to improve the newsroom.
Why.
We believe a union is the best way to protect the journalists whose stories, photos and other content are the first draft of Austin’s historical record.
